HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1971-395a BILL NO. 789 COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII ORDINANCE NO. 395 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ONE-WAY STREETS WITHIN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, STATE OF HAWAII, BY AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 39 (TRAFFIC CODE), REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, AS AMENDED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Section 12-1 ONE WAY STREETS is amended by adding a new subsection to Section 12-1(b)-1 to read as follows: "v) KEKAULIKE STREET. All vehicles shall move in a Hamakua direction from Waianuenue Avenue between Waianuenue Avenue and Wailuku Drive." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective upon the relocation of the mail drop box to the mauka curbside of Kekaulike Street next to the Hilo Post Office. Mannen, Chairman of the Mail Users Council together with the recommendation of the Highway Safety Council. The County Council at its March 24, 1971 meeting considered the request and adopted the following recommendation of its Public Works Committee: Approve recommendation to change Kekaulike Street into a one-way street, contingent upon the reloca- tion of the mail drop box to the mauka curbside of Kekaulike Street by the Hilo Post Office. I am also transmitting to you a copy of Bill 789 which was adopted on first reading today. Should you have any comments regarding this bill, please inform me at your earliest convenience. This Bill proposes to amend Section 12-1(b)-1 of Ordinance No. 39 (Traffic Code) by creating a one-way street on Kekaulike Street and all vehicles shall move in a Hamakua direction from Waianuenue Avenue between Waianuenue Avenue and Wailuku Drive; further, this will become effective upon the relocation of the mail drop box to the mauka curbside of Kekaulike Street next to the Hilo Post Office.
