HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1971-396BILL N0. 790 COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII ORDINANCE N0. ~39F) AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH (1) NO STOPPING OR STANDING ZONES; (2) NO PARKING ZONES; AND (3) PASSENGER LOADING AND UNLOADING ZONES WITHIN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, STATE OF HAWAII, BY AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 39 (TRAFFIC CODE), REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, AS AMENDED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Section 17-3 STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN SPECIFIED PLACES is amended by adding a new item to Paragraph 1 of subsection (a) to read as follows: i. The following are hereby established and designated as no stopping, standing or parking zones and shall be effective when appropriate signs or markings giving notice thereof are erected or placed: (1) Hamakua -• (2) North Hilo (3) South Hilo a. On both sides of waianuenue Avenue from a point 240 feet east (makai) or Laimana Street to Punawai Street between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 8:00 a.m, on school days. (4) Kau (5) Kohala (6) Kona (7) Puna SECTION 2. Section 17-8 (NO PARKING ZONES) is hereby amended to read as follows: 17-8 (b)-3-(bf) On both sides of Waianuenue Avenue, from 240 feet east (makai) of Laimana Street to Kapiolani Street, between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on school days. SECTION 3. Subsection (b)-3-(bg) of Section 17-8 (NO PARKING ZONES) is hereby repealed. SECTION 4. Section 18-1 (STANDING IN PASSENGER LOADING AND UNLOADING ZONES) is hereby amended to read as follows: 18-1 (b)-4-(f) Hilo Intermediate School from Laimana Street to the makai exit driveway of the school from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days only. 18-1 (b)-4-(g) Hilo High School beginning at its exit and extending for 75 feet in the westerly direction from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days only. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval. This Bill proposes to amend Ordinance No. 39 (Traffic Code) by amending Section 17-3(a)-1 that establishes and designates as no stopping, standing or parking zones on both sides of Waianuenue Avenue from a point 240 feet east (makai) or Laimana Street to Punawai Street between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 8s00 a.m. on school days; by amending Section 17-8(b)-3-(bf) that establishes and designates as no-parking zones on both sides of Waianuenue Avenue, from 240 feet east (makai) of Laimana Street to Kapiolani Street, between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 8s00 a.m. on school days and by further repealing Section 17-8(b)-3-(bg) on the Hamakua aide of Waianuenue Avenue from Halai Street to Kapiolani Street between the hours of 7:15 AN to 8:00 AM on school days. This Bill further amends Section 18-1(b)-4-(f) that establishes and designates as paaseager loading and unloading zones the Hilo Intermediate School from Laimana Street to the makai exit driveway of the school from 1:30 p.m. to 3s00 p.m. on school days only and by amending Section 18-1 (b)-4-(g) the Hilo High School beginning at its exit and extending for 75 feet in the westerly direction from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days only.
