AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9-1 (STOP SIGNS AND YIELD SIGNS) AND SECTION 9-3 (SIGNS REQUIRED AT THROUGH STREETS) OF ORDINANCE NO. 39 (TRAFFIC CODE), AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE N0. 349 (SECTIONS 12 AND 11, RESPECTIVELY), REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, AS AMENDED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Section 9-1(c) of Ordinance No. 39, Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended by Section 12 of Ordinance No. 349, is further amended by the addition of the following new items thereunder to read as follows: 6 - KONA "b) Entering the intersection of Palani Road and Alii Drive from the northern approach of Alii Drive (from the direction of Kailua Wharf). "c) Entering the intersection of Palani Road and Kuakini Highway from both approaches of Kuakini Highway and the makai approach of Palani Road." 7 - PUMA "e) Entering the Kapoho-Kalapana Coastal Road from the eastern leg of the Pahoa-Kalapana Road at the triangular intersection between the Kapoho- Kalapana Coastal Road and the Pahoa-Kalapana Road." SECTION 2. Section 9-3 (b) of Ordinance No. 39, Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended by Section 11 of Ordinance No. 349, is further amended to read as follows: 6 - KONA "a) Alii Drive, from Palani Road to Keauhou Beach in Kona. "d) Palani Road, from the Hawaii Belt Road to Kuakini Highway." 7 - PUNA "d) The Pahoa-Kalapana Road, from the intersection with the Pahoa-Kapoho Road to the National Park Entrance, except for the 'Stop' intersection authorized by Section 9-1(c)7(d) of this ordinance." SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval. This Bill proposes to amend Section 9-1, Stop Signs and Yield Signs of Ordinance No. 39, Traffic Code, as amended by Section 12 of Ordinance No. 349, by establishing and designating stop intersections in Kona when entering the intersection of Palani Road and Alii Drive from the northern approach of Alii Drive (from the direction of Kailua Wharf) and entering the intersection of Palani Road and Kuakini Highway from both approaches of Kuakini Highway and the makai approach of Palani Road and in Puna when entering the Kapoho-Kalapana Coastal. Road from the eastern leg of the Pahoa-Kalapana Road at the triangular intersection between the Kapoho- Kalapana Coastal Road and the Pahoa-Kalapana Road. This Bill further proposes to amend Section 9-3(h), Signs Rey~.eired At Through Streets of Ordinance No. 34, Traffic Code, as amended by Section ll of Ordinance No. 349, in Kona by establishing and designating as through streets when entering Alii Drive, from Falani Road to Reauhcu Beach i:i Kona and Palani Road, from the Hawaii Belt Road to Kuakini Highway and in ?una when entering the Pahoa-Kalapana Road, from the in*_ersection with the Pahoa- Kapoho Road to the National Park Entrance, except for the 'Stop' intersection authorized by Section 9-1(c)7(d) of this ordinance.
