ORDINANCE N0. 4~3
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10-5 (SPECIAL SPEED LIMITS),
SECTION 9-1 (STOP SIGNS AND YIELD SIGNS), AND SECTION 9-3
(SIGNS REQUIRED AT THROUGH STF.EETS) OF ORDINANCE NO. 39
(TRAFFIC CODE), P.EVISF,D ORDINANCES OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
1967, AS AMENDED.
RE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COLTNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Subparagraph 12 of Section 10-5 (c) of
Ordinance No. 39, Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii
1967, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"12. Pahoa-Kalapana Road from a point 1,000 feet
north (mauka) of the Pahoa-Kalapana Road and Kapoho-
Kalapana Coastal Road intersection to the Kalapana
School."
SECTION 2. Section 9-1(c)7 of Ordinance No. 39, Revised
Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended by
Section 12 of Ordinance No. 349, is further amended by the
addition of the following new item thereunder to read as
follows:
7 - PUNA
"f) The westerly leg, Kalapana towards Pahoa
lane, of the Pahoa-Kalapana Road at the
triangular intersection between the Kapoho-
I;alapana Coastal Road and Pahoa-Kalapana
Road.'
SECTION 3. Section 9-3(b)7(d) of Ordinance No. 39,
Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended
by Section 11 of Ordinance PSO. 349, is further amended to
read as follows:
7 - PUMA
"d) The Pahoa-Kalapana Road, from the
intersection with the Pahoa-Y.apoho Road
to the National Park Entrance, except for
the 'Stop' intersection authorized by
subsections 9-1(c)7(e) and 9-1(c)7(f) of
this ordinance.''
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10-5 (SPECLAI, SPEED LIMITS), SECTION 9-1
(STOP SIGNS AND YIELD SIGNS), AND SECTION 9-3 (SIGNS REQIIIRED AT THROIIGH
STREETS) OF ORDINANCE No. 39 (TRAFFIC CODE), REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CODNTY
OF HAWAII 1967, AS AMENDED.
This Bill proposes to amend Ordinance No. 39, Traffic Code, by amending
Section 10-5(c)12 by creating a 35 miles per hour speed zone on the Pahoa-
Kalapana Road from a point 1,000 feet north (manka) of the Pahoa-Kalapana
Road and Kapoho-Kalapana Coastal Road intersection to the Kalapana School;
further adds Section 9-1(c)7, as amended by Section 12 of Ordinance No. 349
by establishing and designating stop intersections is Puna on the westerly leg,
Kalapana towards Pahoa Lane, of the Pahoa-Ralapana Road at the triangular
intersection between the Kapoho-Kalapana Coastal Road and Pahoa-Kalapana
Road; further amends Section 9-3(b)7(d), as amended by Section 11 of Ordinance
No. 349, by establishing and designating as through streets in Puna on the
Pahoa-Kalapaaa Road, from the intersection with the Pahoa-Kapoho Road to the
National Park Entrance, except for the 'Stop' intersection authorized by
subsections 9-1(c)7(e) and 9-1(c)7(f) of this ordinance.
