RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO
HRS 46-7, FOR A HAMAKUA TRAFFIC SAFETY COUNCIL GRANT
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation has authorized funding to
provide an opportunity for community imolyement through public awareness and
assistance with traffic safety issues in the Honokaa Community, and
WHEREAS, the Hawai'i County Police Department is ready and willing io proceed
with its obligations for the Hamakua Trafic Safety Council Grant, and
WHEREAS, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that the ccunt}
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreement with the federal or
state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by
law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with
projects being or to be under taken pursuant to those powers
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOD ED by the Council of the County of Hawai'i that
the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the Dep irtment of
Transportation, State of Hawaii to increa•,e public awareness with traffic safety issues in
the Honokaa Community

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawai'i is authorized to
sign the above -referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of
the Mayor and the County of Hawai'i pursuant to the Hawai'i County Charter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawai'i shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and Police Department.
