AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH (1) PASSENGER LOADING AND UNLOADING ZONES; AND (2) OTHER VEHICLES NOT TO BE PARKED, STOPPED OR PERMITTED TO STAND IN BUS STOPS WITHIN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, STATE OF HAWAII, BY AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 39 (TRAFFIC CODE), REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII 1967, AS AMENDED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Subsection (b) of Section 18-1 of Ordinance No. 39 (Traffic Code), Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended, is hereby amended further by the addition of a new item thereunder to read as follows: "13 - Mohouli Street at: "a) Kapiolani School on the Hamakua side beginning at a point 125 feet mauka from Kilauea Avenue and extending in the mauka direction for a distance of 200 feet, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days." SECTION 2. Section 18-4 of Ordinance No. 39 (Traffic Code), Revised Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: "SECTION 18-4 OTHER VEHICLES NOT TO BE PARKED, STOPPED OR PERMITTED TO STAND IN BUS STOPS "(a) No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle, other than a bus, in a bus stop when such bus stop has been officially designated and appropriately signed, except that the driver of a passenger vehicle may temporarily stop therein for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading passengers when such stopping does not interfere with any bus which has entered or is waiting to enter or about to enter such bus stop. "(b) The following are hereby established and designated as bus stops and shall be effective when appropriate signs or markings giving notice thereof have been erected or placed: "1. (Reserved) "2. (Reserved) "3. South Hilo a) The Hamakua side of Mohouli Street, beginning at a point 380 feet mauka of Kilauea Avenue and extending in the mauka direction for a distance of 100 feet, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on school days only. b) The Hamakua side of Waianuenue Avenue at the Hilo High School beginning at its exit and extending for 75 feet in the westerly direction, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m, on school days only. c) The Puna side of Hualalai Street at St. Joseph's Elementary School from -2- Kinoole Street extending in the mauka direction for a distance of 287 feet, from 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on school days only. d) The Puna-side lane within the unloading area off Waianuenue Avenue at Hilo High School between the passenger shed fronting the Hilo High School cafeteria and the passenger shed near the exit of the unloading area, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.
