Re: Temporary Relief From Building Code Requirements For Flood Damages
hicurred on November 1-2.2000
Enclosed for the Council's review and approval is a bill granting temporary powers to the
Mayor to waive certain requirements under various chapters of the Hawaii County Code.
There is an urgent need to expedite repairs to restore housing to displaced families and to
allow businesses to return to full operation as soon as possible. Therefore it would be in
the public interest to allow certain types of work to proceed unhindered and to allow the
completion of the required paperwork concurrent with or after construction.
We respectfully request that this bill be included on your next council agenda.
