BF IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF T.IA67F>II:
SECTIOD? .L. This ordinance is necessitated by a nation-wide
energy crisis which, according to President :P7ixon, wi:Ll involve
"the most acute shortages of energy since [rlorld [ti'ar I:C . "
The purpose of this ordinance is to conserve energy
and. tt1us avert: potential disastrous effects on the Biq Island
economy.
>FCTIOP' ;!. Section 1 of Article ~, Chapter 6 (Traffic
Code), Hawaii County Code, as amended, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"SF.C. 1. MAXIMUM SPEED LIf~1IT
"ATo person shall drive a vehicle upon any highway
at a speed greater than fifty (50) miles per hour."
ST]CTIOP7 3 _ This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1, ARTICLE 8, CHAPTER 6 (TRAFFIC
CODE), HAWAII COUNTY CODE, AS AMF,NDED.
This Bill amends Section 1, Article 8, Chapter 6 (Traffi.c
Code), Hawaii County Code, as amended, which limits the speed
limit to 50 mnh tc ^_ompl.y with President Nixon's request to
conserve energy.
