AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 (ZONING CODE), ARTICLE 17,
HAWAII COUNTY CODE, AS AMENDED, ESTABLISHING A FLOOD HAZARD
DISTRICT DESIGNATION (SF) AND STIPULATING CONDITIONS FOR
CONSTRUCTION IN SAID FLOOD HAZARD DISTRICT AND REPEALING
ALL SECTIONS AND PARTS OF SECTIONS OF ORDINANCES OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 8, Article 17, Hawaii County Code,
is hereby amended by adding Section 3 to read as follows:
"Sec. 3. SAFETY FLOOD HAZARD DISTRICT - SF.
"A. This subdistrict shall apply to areas designated
by the Federal Insurance Administration as being subject
to special flood and tsunami hazards and indicated on
the zone maps as SF districts.
"B. The elevation of the flood level (referenced
to MSL) shall be indicated on the zone maps by a numerical
suffix after the letters SF. For sheet flow conditions,
the numerical suffix shall indicate the depth of flow
above ground elevation in inches."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect on December 31,
1974.

This Bill amends Chapter 8 (Zoning Code), Article 17, Hawaii County
Code, as amended, establishing a flood hazard district designation
(SF) and stipulating conditions for construction in said flood
hazard district and repealing all sections and parts of sections of
ordinances of the County of Hawaii in conflict therewith.
Date Introduced: August 21, 1974
Copies of the foregoing Bill, in full, are on file in the Office
of the County Clerk for use and examination by the public.
