AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 62$ RELATING TO THE KAILUA
VILLAGE SPECIAL DISTRICT AND URBAN DESIGN REVIEW COMMISSION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII,
STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION ].. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 62$ is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"b. Southeast and east along the mauka boundary of the
existing RS-15 zone to the southwest corner of TMK: ~-5-05:62;"
"d. N;auka, crossing Kuakini Highway and along the west
side of the existing CV-10 and Open zones to the makai side of
the Queen Kaahumanu Highway;"
"g. Makai, crossing Kuakini Highway along the south side
of the parce:Ls described as TN,K: ~-5-1$:l, 4 and 61, and TN,K:
7-5-19:1$ to the shoreline;"
"h. North along the shoreline to the point of beginning
and containing an area of approximately $25 acres and as
delineated on the attached map."
SECTION 2. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 62$ is hereby amended to
read as fol_Lows:
"The Commission shall consist of fourteen (14) appointive
members who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of
the County t;ouncil. The appointive members shall be representative
of the Kona llistrict, provided that a minimum of 50 percent or
seven (7) of the appointive members shall live and/or work in the
Kailua Village for a minimum of two years prior to this appointment.
The Commission shall also reflect a cross-section of labor,
business including tourism and agriculture, and the village's
property owners interests. There shall. also be at least one
person with a design background and one person with a historical
knowledge background on the Commission."
"The members shall serve staggered terms of four (4) years,
provided that of the first members appointed, seven (7) shall
serve for four (4) years and seven (7) shall serve for two years.
When the term of a member expires, he shall continue to serve until.
his successor is appointed."
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
