AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 (TRAFFIC CODE), ARTICLE 8,
SECTION 5 (SPECIAL SPEED LIMITS), HAWAII COUNTY CODE, AS
AMENDED.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Schedule 3 of Chapter 6, Article 8, Section 5,
Hawaii County Code, is amended by adding the new items under
the following headings to read as follows:
Under "FIFTEEN MILES PER HOUR''
"1. Pohakea Road, from a point 2.4 miles mauka of
the Old Mamalahoa Highway to the terminus of the
paved portion, all trucks over 1 ton."
Under "TWENTY FIVE MILES PER HOUR"
"15. Pahoa Road, from a point 3/4 mile Pahoa of
Kahakai Boulevard to the Kapoho-Pahoa-Kalapana road
junction.
"16. Pohakea Road, from the Old Mamalahoa Highway
to the terminus of the paved portion."
Under "THIRTY MILES PER HOUR"
"1. Mamalahoa Highway in Kona from the terminal
of the State highway at Honalo to the terminal of the
State highway at Captain Cook.
"2. Pahoa Road, from Kahakai Boulevard for a
distance of 3/4 mile in the Pahoa direction.
"3. Kalapana Beach Road, from a point 2.35 miles
north of the Kapoho-Kumukahi intersection to the Kaimu-
Pahoa-Kapoho intersection.
"4. Mauna Kea Road, from a point 2.46 miles northerly
of the Saddle Road intersection to Mauna Kea State Park,
Hale Pohaku."
Under "THIRTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR"
"24. Saddle Road from Country Club Road for a
distance of one-half (1/2) mile in the mauka direction.
"25. Nanawale Boulevard for its entire length.
"26. The Kawaihae-Mahukona Road from the intersection
with the Kawaihae Road to a point 1,000 feet south of
Honokoa Bridge."
Under "FORTY MILES PER HOUR"
"3. Mauna Kea Road, from the Saddle Road
intersection to a point 2.46 miles northerly."
SECTION 2. Item 12 under heading "THIRTY-FIVE MILES PER
HOUR" of Schedule 3, Section 5, Article 8, Chapter 6, Hawaii
County Code, is amended to read:
"12. Kalapana Beach Road, from the Cape Kumukahi-
Kapoho Road intersection in the southerly direction
for a distance of 2.35 miles."
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.

This Bill amends the Traffic Code regarding special speed limits.
