ORDINANCE NO. _
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1, 4 and 5, ARTICLE 8,
CHAPTER 6 (TRAFFIC CODE), HAWAII COUNTY CODE, AS AMENDED.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. This ordinance will enable the posting
of speed limits consistent with the design speed of certain
highways.
SECTION 2.. Section 1 of Article 8, Chapter 6 (Traffic
Code), Hawaii County Code, as amended, is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"SEC. 1. MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT
"No person shall drive a vehicle upon any highway
at a speed greater than fifty-five (55) miles per hour
unless otherwise specified by this Code."
SECTION 3. Item "D" of Section 4, Article 8, Chapter 6
(Traffic Code), Hawaii County Code, as amended, is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"D. FIFTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR
On all highways unless otherwise specified by
this Code."
SECTION 4. Schedule 3 (Speed Limits) of Section 5,
Article 8, Chapter 6 (Traffic Code), Hawaii County Code, as
amended, is hereby amended as follows:
a. Delete the six items under "FIFTY MILES PEk HOUR"
and. place the same six items under `FIFTY-FIVE D~ILES PER HOUR."
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect ut~on its
approval.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1, 4 and 5, ARTICLE 8, CHAPTER 6,
(TRAFFIC CODE), HAWAII COUNTY CODE, AS AMENDED.
This Bill amends Sections 1, 4 and 5, Article 8, Chapter 6
(Traffic Code), Hawaii County Code, as amended, by changing the
maximum speed limit to 55 mph on all public highways.
