ORDINANCE NO. ~,y~';~~,
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 5, OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE, ESTABLISHING A MASS TRANSPORTATION AGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Article 5, of the Hawaii County
Code, is amended by the addition of Section 3, establishing
a "Mass Transportation Agency" to read as follows:
"SEC. 3. Mass Transportation Agency.
"SEC. 3.01. Policy and Purposes. For the purpose of
providing mass transportion service in the County of Hawaii,
whether directly, jointly, or under contract with private
parties, pursuant to Chapter 51, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
"SEC. 3.02. Mass Transportation Agency. An agency
to be known as the Mass Transportation Agency is created in
order to implement Chapter 51, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
"SEC. 3.03. Transportation Coordinator. There shall
be a Transportation Coordinator who shall be appointed by the
Mayor and removed by the Mayor. The position of Transportation
Coordinator shall be exempt from the Civil Service laws.
"SEC. 3..04. Duties of the Transportation Coordinator.
The Transport<~tion Coordinator shall have direct responsibility
for the admin:Lstration and operation of County mass transportation
service, whether such service is provided directly, jointly,
or under contract with private parties. The Transportation
Coordinator shall be under the direct supervision and control of
the Mayor and shall have the authority to staff the agency with
necessary personnel to carry out the purposes of the agency.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.

This Bill amends Chapter 2, Article 5, of the Hawaii County
Code, establishing ~~ Mass Transportation Agency.
