Re: Capital Budget
Due to the damages to various major streets such as Kawili, Ainaola, Haihai and Kawailani
during the November 2, 2000 flood, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has
authorized the release of funds for 8 projects at approximately 80% federal and 20% county.
Emergency work, including Route 11 by-pass Pahala, may be eligible for 100% reimbursement.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Capital Budget by appropriating $4,000,000 of
federal funds for the Repair Flood Damage project.
Because of the urgency of this project, the Department of Public Works would like to have this
bill heard at the Council meeting scheduled for November 29, 2000.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Department of Public Works.
