AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3, AR'.CICLE 2, SECTION 7, HAWAII COUNTY
CODE 1975, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO PUBLIC GROUNDS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Article 2, Section 7.01, Hawaii County
Code 1975, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 7.01. DUTY OF CHIEF OF POLICE. It shall be the
duty of the Chief of Police of the County of Hawaii to
protect lawns, gardens, grass plots and other cultivated
grounds belonging to the State of Hawaii or the County of
Hawaii within the said County, and of all such lawns, gardens,
grass plots and other cultivated grounds of a public nature
within said County, and to place or cause to be placed on
such places, signs and notices warning persons to keep off
such places %. /, provided that this section shall not apply,
during the period from February 1st through October 31st of
each year, to that certain Hilo Bayfront area, situated makai
of the Hawaii Belt Road, from the intersection of Kamehameha
Avenue and Hawaii Belt Road as delineated in the attached map.
SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material
is underscored. When incorporating this ordinance into the Hawaii
County Code, as amended, the incorporator need not include the
brackets, the bracketed material or the underscoring.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
