RESOLUTION NO. 348 a 0
WHEREAS, Al Smith has been a Councilmember of the County of Hawaii since
1996 representing Council District 5, Lower Puna; and
WHEREAS, during these past five years Councilmember Smith has participated
on numerous standing committees and served as Vice-Chair of the Council, Chair
of the Hawaii County Housing Agency and Vice-President of the Hawaii State
Association of Counties; and
WHEREAS, a humble temperament and an unwavering commitment to the people
of Puna enabled Councilmember Smith to make unprecedented gains in the 5`n
Council District. A sense of achievement and integrity will mark his legislative
career and his service to our Island; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Smith will complete his term on December 4, 2000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it hereby extends its sincere gratitude to
Councilmember Al Smith for his many years of valuable service together with best
wishes for continued health, success and prosperity. May the past happy memories
be prelude to future ones!
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit a
true copy of this resolution to Councilmember Al Smith.
