Comm. 580: APPOINTMENT TO THE HAWAII COUNTY TAX BOARD OF REVIEW

From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated November 12,
1997, submitting for confirmation the following
appointment to the Hawaii County Tam Board of Review:
William F. Green, a Democrat from Hilo,
replacing Bill Thibadeau, whose term will
aspire on December 31, 1997. Since 1991,
Mr. Green has been the Owner/President of PCI
Chemical Corporation. He is presently serving
on the Hawaii County Board of Appeals and will
end his tenure on December 31, 1997.
If approved, Mr. Green will serve a term to end
on December 31, 2002.
Comm. 581: APPOINTMENT TO THE HAWAII COUNTY FIRE BOARD OF APPEALS
- GARY K YOSHIMURA
From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated November 12,
1997, submitting for confirmation the following
appointment to the Hawaii County Fire Board of Appeals:
Gary K. Yoshimura of Hilo, replacing Hajime
Uyeki of Hilo, whose term will expire on
December 31, 1997. Mr. Yoshimura is retired
from the County of Hawaii Fire Department
(1968-1995) and since 1977, has been a
part-owner of HITCO Moving and Storage Co. He
has no political party affiliation.
If approved, Mr. Yoshimura will serve a term to
end December 31, 2002.

Comm. 571.01: RESOLUTION CREATING NINE (9) POLICE OFFICER II POSITIONS
(Res. 186) FOR THE COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES
(C.O.P.S.), ACCELERATED HIRING, EDUCATION AND
DEPLOYMENT (A.H.E.A.D.) GRANT

November 6, 1997, transmitting the above resolution.
Bill 164, appropriating the funds for the salaries of
these positions, was recommended for approval (Finance
Committee Report No. 169) at the November 18, 1997
FC meeting.
Comm. 571.02: From Police Chief Mayne G. Carvalho, dated November 18,
1997, responding to an inquiry to Police Sergeant James
Sanborn at the November 18, 1997 FC meeting regarding
the district assignments for the five new community
Policing Officers under the COPS Universal Hiring
Supplement Program. States that the newly created
positions were assigned to the Districts of Hamakua,
Ka'u, Puna, South Kohala and Kona. The Districts of
North Hilo and North Kohala are supplemented by the
adjoining officers assigned to Hamakua and South
Kohala, respectively.
Comm. 582: RESOLUTION APPROVING THE COST ITEMS AGREED UPON BY THE
(Res. 185) EMPLOYERS AND HAWAII GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION
AFFECTING HGEA BARGAINING UNITS 03, 04, 63 AND 84 FOR
THE CONTRACT PERIOD JULY 1, 197 THROUGH JUNE 30. 1999

1997, transmitting the above resolution. Attached as
an ezhibit is a schedule showing the total cost of
these various adjustments over the two years of the
contract. If approved by the legislative bodies of all
jurisdictions, the increased costs for this fiscal year
will be covered by the Provision for Compensation
Adjustment appropriation in the current budget.

fuel taz revenues.

December 9 at 8:30 p.m. The Human Services and Economic Development
Committee and Planning Committee meetings can be seen on Thursday,
December 4 at 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday, December 11 at 8:30 p.m.
All the above meetings will be aired on Sunday, December 14 at 9 a.m.
