Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 342-00, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 342-00, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 340 by Director of Finance
Dixie Kaetsu, via Communication No. 962, dated October 17, 2000, authorizes the County of
Hawaii to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii for a data records project grant.
The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program has
authorized funding to provide equipment necessary to transfer reports on motor vehicle accident
reports on a timely basis to the Department of Transportation.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent
of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
betaken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to famish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 342-00
and recommends its adoption.
