AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Section 1-C, Article 7, Chapter 6, of the Hawaii County Code is amended by amending item 4 of the South Hilo classification in Schedule 1 to read as follows; "4. Entering [Kekaulike Street from] Shipman Street from the Hamakua side of Kekaulike Street." SECTION 2. Section 1-A, Article 10, Chapter G, of the Hawaii County Code is amended by amending item 22 of Schedule 6 to read as follows: "22. KEKAULIKE STREET. All [vehicles] vehicular traffic shall move in [a] the Hamakua direction from Waianuenue Avenue [between Waianuenue Avenue and Wailuku Drive] to Shipman Street." SECTION 3. Section 1-A, Article 10, Chapter 6, of the Hawaii County Code is amended by adding new items to Schedule 6 to read as follows: "28. KALAKAUA STREET. All vehicular traffic shall move in the mauka direction from Kamehameha Avenue to Kinoole Street. "29. SHIPMAN STREET. All vehicular traffic shall move in the makai direction from Kekaulike Street to Kamehameha Avenue. "30. WAILUKU DRIVE. All vehicular traffic shall move in the mauka direction from Kamehameha Avenue to Kekaulike Street. "31. KEKAULIKE STREET. All vehicular traffic shall move in the Puna direction from Wailuku Drive to Shipman Street." ___. SECrlION 4. Section 1-B, Article 17, Chapter 6, of the Hawaii County Code is amended to read as follows: "H. The following areas, described in Schedule 16 attached hereto and made a part hereof, are hereby established and designated as parking-meter zones and shall be utilized for parking within the time limits and at the monetary rates therein noted." SECTION 5. Section 1-B, Article 17, Chapter 6, of the Hawaii County Code is amended by amending Schedule 16 to read as follows: "SCHEDULE 16 - PARKING-METER ZONES ARTICLE 17, Sec. 1 THIRTY-SIX MINUTES PARKING-METER ZONES The following areas are desig nated as thirty -six minutes parking-meter zones at the rate of 1 cent for every twelve minutes: 1. Kekaulike Street, from Waianuenue Avenue to Wailuku Drive. 2. The makai side of Kinoole Street, from Waianuenue Avenue to Wailuku Drive. ONE HOUR PARKING-METER ZONES The following areas are designated as one hour parking-meter zones at the rate of 5 cents er hour: 1. Furneaux Lane, from Keawe Street to Kamehameha Avenue. -2- 2. Haili Street, from Kinoole Street to Kamehameha Avenue. 3. Kalakaua Street, from Kinoole Street to Kamehameha Avenue . 4. Kamehameha Avenue, mauka side, from Shipman Street to Waianuenue Avenue. 5. Keawe Street, from Wailuku Drive to Kilauea Avenue. 6. On both side of Kekuanaoa Street, between Honu Lane and Kilauea Avenue. 7. Kilauea Avenue, from Haili Street to Kukuau Street. 8. The mauka side of Kinoole Street from Waianuenue Avenue to Wailuku Drive. 9. Mamo Street, from Kinoole Street to Kamehameha Avenue. 10. Shipman Street, from Kekaulike Street to Kamehameha Avenue. 11. Waianuenue Avenue, from Keawe Street to Kamehameha Avenue. 12. The metered areas on Kinoole Street between Waianuenue Avenue and Haili Street in the City of Hilo. 13. The five stalls on the Hamakua side of Waianuenue Avenue between the entrance and exist driveways into the Hilo High School grounds and fronting the Administration Building. 14. Those marked stalls on either side of Mohouli Street between Kilauea Avenue and a point 160 feet -3- mauka of Kilauea Avenue, between 7:OU a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily except Sundays and holidays. 15. Kamehameha Avenue, from Waianuenue Avenue to Ponahawai Street. TWO-HOUR PARKING-METER ZONES The following areas are designated as two hour parking-meter zones at the rate of 5 cents er hour: 1. All of that area known as the old County Building parking lot located at the northeast corner of Waianuenue Avenue and Keawe Street intersection in the City of Hilo where parking meters are presently installed. 2. The Puna side of Haili Street between Kinoole Street and Ululani Street. EIGHT-HOUR PARKING-METER ZONES [l.j The following areas are designated as [maximum or] eight [(8) hours] hour parking meter zones at the rate of [five cents ($.05) for two (2) hours.] 2-1/l cents er hour: [a. The following 99 stalls in the Bay Front Parking area adjacent to Kamehameha Avenue in the City of Hilo: (1) The 21 parking stalls in first row,ll parking stalls in the second row, and 17 parking stalls in the third row of parking stalls along Kamehameha Avenue from Mooheau Park to Haili Street; -4- (2) The 17 parking stalls in the first row and the 16 parking stalls in the second row in the area on the Hamakua side of Haili Street; and (3) The 7 parking stalls near the bus terminal.] "l. All of the parking stalls in the Bayfront parking area makai of Kamehameha Avenue in the City of Hilo. 2. Kamehameha Avenue, makai side, between Waianuenue Avenue and Wailuku Drive. 3. Wailuku Drive, Kamehameha Avenue to Keawe Street. SECTION 6. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be included. SECTION 7. In the event any portion of this ordinance is declared invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other parts of this ordinance. SECTION 8. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
