ORDINANCE No. 83 32
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY
CODE 1983 RELATING 70 TRAFFIC REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 24-214, Subdivision 1, Division 4,
Article 8, Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is
amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:
"(a) The County traffic engineer shall install parking
meters in the parking meter zones as provided in this
chapter upon the curb immediately adjacent to each
designated parking space. The meters shall be capable of
being operated automatically or manually upon the deposit of
a coin or coins of United States currency as specified on
the meters."
SECTION 2. Section 24-223, Subdivision 2, Division 4,
Article 8, Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is
amended to read as follows:
"Section 24-223. Fees. The department of public works
shall require the payment of a fee calculated at the rate of
[one dollar) two dollars per day or fraction thereof,
exclusive of Sundays and public holidays, for each parking
meter stall so occupied, before issuing the permit under
section 24-222.
SECTION 3. Section 24-288, Division 6, Article 10,
Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by
amending item (13) to read as follows:
"(13) [Kinoole ,Street, makai side, Puna of Ponahawai
Street, twenty-five feet] RESERVED."
SECTION 4. Section 24-289, Division 7, Article 10,
Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by
adding a new item to read as follows:
"(3) Kinoole Street, makai side, the first two stalls
south of Ponahawai Street."
SECTION 5. Section 24-290, Division 7, Article 10,
Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by
adding a new item to read as follows:
"(1) Keawe Street, from Haili Street to Mamo Street."
SECTION 6. Section 24-291, Division 7, Article 10,
Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by
amending item (5) to read as follows:
"(5) Keawe Street, from Wailuku Drive to [Kilauea
Avenue] Haili Street."
SECTION 7. Section 24-291, Division 7, Article 10,
Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by
amending item (19) to read as follows:
"(19) [Nawahi Lane] RESERVED."
SECTION 8. Section 24-291, Division 7, Article 10,
Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by
adding new items to read as follows:
"(22) Kinoole Street, mauka side, the first six stalls
south of Ponahawai Street and central fire station.
(23) Kinoole Street, makai side, the eight stalls
located in the area between points one hundred feet and
three hundred feet south of Ponahawai Street."

SECTION 9. Section 24-292, Division 7, Article 10,
Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by
adding a new item to read as follows:
"(4) Nawahi Lane."
SECTION 10. Daterial to be repealed is bracketed. New
material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the
brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be
included.
SECTION 11. If any provision of this ordinance or the
application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions
or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect
without the invalid provision or application, and to this
end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
