Thank you for the opportunity to express my support for the development of this
Regional Shopping Center in Keaau by W H, Shipman My name is Eric Weinert,
twenty year resident of Kurtistown, farmer and business owner
Like most of my ndghbors, we log hundreds of miles each week traveling between our
homes and businesses to Hilo A regional shopping center will not eliminate this
commute completely from our lives but will substantially reduce the frequency of those
trips Our fast growing and substantial populations in the subdivisions of Puna deserve to
be served by this shopping center in our own district Keaau is the most logical place to
put that center The convergence of Hwy 130 at the Keaau by-pass (Pahoa, Orchidland,
Paradise Park, etc )and Hwy 11 (Volcano, Kurtistown, Hawauan Acres, Fern Acres,
etc ) is the most logical sfte in Keaau
W H Shipman should be commended for taking this initiative They are committing
their capital and resources to enhance our community Our County and government
agencies should honor and respect this contribution All delays and extra costs are
ultimately borne by Hawaii's higher cost of living
Our community needs this cater We support this project We urge the Hawaii County
Council and the planning committee's support
