ORDINANCE N0. S4 73
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. This ordinance is to prohibit vehicles from parking
on shoulders of highways for the purpose of advertising cars as "for
sale." The numbers of vehicle owners advertising their cars on
highways have increased, and is creating a traffic safety hazard.
SECTION 2. Section 24-194, Division 1, Article 8, Chapter 24,
of the Hawaii County Code 1983 is amended by amending subsection (a)
to read as follows:
"(a) No person shall park a vehicle upon any [roadway]
highway:
(1) Where such a vehicle displays a for sale sign;
or
(2) For the purpose of washing, polishing,
greasing, or repairing such vehicle except for
repairs necessitated by an emergency."
SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material
is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed
material, and underscoring need not be•included.
SECTION 4. In the event that any portion of the ordinance is
declarea invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other parts
of this ordinance.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
