AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, AP.TICLE 8, DIVISION 6, OF THE
HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION RELATING TO
HONORING PLACARDS FROM GTHER JURISDICTIONS IN PARKING FOR DISABLED
PERSONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 8, division 6, of the Hawaii
County Code 1983, is amended by adding a new section to be
appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
"SECTION 24 - Honoring placards from other
jurisdictions. The County of Hawaii shall recognize and honor
official disabled parking placards or permits issued by other
states, provinces, foreign nations or political subdivisions, and
grant visitors and vehicles clearly displaying such placards or
permits the same privileges extended to qualified disabled parking
placard holders in the County."
SECTION 2. If any provision of this ordinance, or the
application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid,
such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid
provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
