ORDINANCE NO. 90 29
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 89-86, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO PUBLIC
IMPROVEMENTS AND FINANCING THEREOF FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 1989 TO
JUNE 30, 1990.
WHEREAS, sixty-five thousand dollars was appropriated in
Ordinance 89-86 for the purposes of Design and Construction of a "long
house" on Coconut Island; and
WHEREAS, although the "long house" would enhance the expansion of our
cultural preservation program, the Kalakaua Park Heritage area also is
intended to preserve the historic significance of the city of Hilo; and
WHEREAS, the former Hilo Professional Building parcel, TMK: 2-3-6:3,
is located adjacent to the East Hawaii Cultural Center and next to the
Kalakaua Park Heritage area; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of said parcel by the County will enable the
County to better plan and develop the area in accordance with the heritage
park theme; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds it in the best interest of the County to
utilize the funds for the Coconut Island - Design and Construction of a
"long house" project for land acquisition, including land appraisal, of
the former Hilo Professional Building site.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 89-86, as amended, Relating to Public
Improvements and Financing Thereof for the Fiscal Year July 1, 1989 to
June 30, 1990 is hereby further amended by changing the following project
title.
[Coconut Island - Design and Construct "long house"]
Hilo Professional Building - Land Acquisition $65,000
SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed
material, and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect
