AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE 1983, RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this act is to correct
a misspelling in section 24-253.1(4) and an incorrect reference
to prior legislation in section 24-269.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, section 24-253.1,
schedule 1.1, of the Hawaii County Code 1983, relating to
15 mile per hour speed limits, is amended to read as follows:
"Section 24-253.1. Schedule 1.1. 15 mile per hour limit.
A speed limit of fifteen miles per hour is established as set
forth in this schedule upon the streets or portions of streets
as follows:
(1) Alii Drive, from Palani Road to Walua Road
(vicinity of Kona Hilton Hotel).
(2) Kaohe Homestead Road, from Route 130 for a
distance of .5 mile.
(3) Kapehu Camp Subdivision, North Hilo:
(a) Kaalau Street.
(b) KO'1 Loop.
(c) Ko'i Place.
(4) [KOhala] Kohola Street, from Kilauea Avenue to
Iolani Street.
(5) Palani Road, from Kuakini Highway to Alii Drive.
(6) Pohakea Road, from a point 2.4 miles mauka of the
Old Mamalahoa Highway to the terminus of the paved portion, all
trucks over one ton. (1975, Ord. No. 105, sec. 1; Am. 1980,

SECTION 3. Chapter 24, article 10, section 24-269,
schedule 17, of the Hawaii County Code 1983, relating to right
turns only, is amended to read as follows:
"Section 24-269. Schedule 17. Right turns only. The
following are designated as areas restricted to right turns only:
Reserved. (1978, Ord. No. 347, sec. 1; Am. 1989,
Ord. No. [89-61] $926_, sec. 1.)"
SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New
material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the
brackets, bracketed material, and underscoring need not be
included.
SECTION 5. If any provision of this ordinance or the
application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without
the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the

provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
