ORDINANCE NO. 92 41
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 2 OF THE
HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983, RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2,
section 24-267, schedule 15, as amended, of the Hawaii County
Code 1983, relating to one way streets is amended to read as
follows:
Section 24-267. Schedule 15. One way streets. When
properly posted, traffic shall move only in the direction
indicated upon the following streets or portions of streets:
(1) Bayfront Parking Lot Driveway located two hundred
forty feet Hamakua of Mamo Street in the mauka direction.
(2) A portion of Derby Street and Barenaba Street
extension. All vehicular traffic shall move only out (mauka to
makai) into Kilauea Avenue between Barenaba Street and Kilauea
Avenue.
(3) Furneaux Street. All vehicular traffic shall move
from makai to mauka between Keawe Street and Kilauea Avenue, and
mauka to makai between Keawe Street and Kamehameha Avenue.
[(4) Halai Street. All vehicular traffic shall move only
from the Puna to Hamakua, direction between Haili Street and
Waianuenue Avenue, between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
on school days.]
[(5)] (4) Hawaii Belt Road, between Keaau Village Access
Road on the north end of Keaau Village (Station 1080 + 35 FAP
No. F-011-2(2)) to the intersection of Mamalahoa Highway and
Makalika Street in Hilo. All vehicular traffic shall move only
from the Hilo to Keaau direction on the mauka lanes and from the
Keaau to Hilo direction on the makai lanes.
[(6)] (5) Holomalia Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move only from makai to mauka between Ipuka Street and Popolo
Street.
[(7)] (6) Kapiolani Street. All vehicluar traffic shall
move only from the Hamakua to the Puna direction, between
Ponahawai Street and Waianuenue Avenue, between the hours of
five a.m. and one p.m. on Sundays.
[(8)] (7) Kilauea Avenue. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the Puna direction from Haili Street to Mamo Street.
[(9)] ($) Kilauea Avenue. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the Hamakua direction from Ponahawai Street to Mamo
Street.
[(10)] (~) Kekaulike Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the Hamakua direction from Waianuenue Avenue to Wailuku
Drive.
[(11)] (10) Kinoole Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the Puna direction from Wailuku Drive to Ponahawai
Street.

[(12)] (11) Kukuau Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move only from makai to mauka between Kilauea Avenue and Kinoole
Street.
[(13)l (12) Likana Lane in Kailua, Kona. All vehicular
traffic shall move only in a northerly direction between Alii
Drive and the driveway of the Kona Seaside Hotel.
[(14)] (13) Mamalahoa Highway. All vehicular traffic
shall move only from Hamakua to Puna between the Old Volcano
Road leading to the Tuberculosis Rehabilitation Center and FAP
F 2(3) (Kanoelehua Street Extension).
[(15)l (14) Mamalahoa Highway in Paauilo. All vehicular
traffic shall move only from the Honokaa to the Hilo direction
between the Cutoff Road on the Hilo side of the Catholic Church
and the Hawaii Belt Road (Proj. DF-019-2(5)).
[(16)] (15) Mamalahoa Highway in Ninole. All vehicular
traffic shall move only from the Hilo to the Hamakua direction.
[(17)] (1~) Mooheau Bus Terminal, the southernmost
driveway, in the makai direction and the area fronting the bus
terminal in the Hamakua direction.
[(18)] (17) Nawahi Lane. All vehicular traffic shall move
only from makai to mauka between Kamehameha Avenue and Punahoa
Street.
[(19)] (18) Ohia Street in Honokaa. All vehicular traffic
shall move only in the northerly direction on the Ohia Street
extension between Mamane Street and Ohia Street.

[(20)] (12) Pakalana Street in Honokaa. All vehicular
traffic on Pakalana Street between Kukui Street and Kamani
Street shall move only in one direction from Kukui Street to
Kamani Street between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and
1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the regular school days of the
Honokaa High and Elementary School.
[(21)] (20) Paauilo School Road. All vehicular traffic
shall move only from the mauka to makai direction between the
Paauilo School Park Road and Mamalahoa Highway during the hours
of 7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on school
days.
[(22)] (21) Paauilo School Park Road. All vehicular
traffic shall move only from the Honokaa to Hilo direction
between the Paauilo Homestead Road and the Paauilo School Road
during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to
2:30 p.m. on school days.
[(23)] (22) Punahele Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move only from makai to mauka between Halai Street and Kaumana
Drive between the hours of 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m, on school days.
[(24)] (2~) Sarona Road in Kailua, Kona. All vehicular
traffic shall move in the mauka direction between Alii Drive and
Kuakini Highway.
[(25)] (24) Waianuenue Avenue. All vehicular traffic
shall move only from mauka to makai between Kaumana Drive and
Kamehameha Avenue between the hours of 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on
school days.

[(26)] (~) Kalakaua Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the mauka direction from Kamehameha Avenue to Kinoole
Street.
[(27)] (2~) Shipman Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the makai direction from Kekaulike Street to Kamehameha
Avenue.
[(28)] (27) Wailuku Drive. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the mauka direction from Kamehameha Avenue to Kinoole
Street.
[(29)] (2~) Keawe Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the Hamakua direction from Kilauea Avenue to Wailuku
Drive.
[(30)] (2~) Ululani Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the Hamakua direction only, beginning at Waianuenue
Avenue to its terminus at Wailuku Drive.
[(31)] (~Q) Liliuokalani Park Perimeter Road. All
vehicular traffic shall move in the westerly direction from
Keliipio Place for a distance of one thousand three hundred
sixty feet to the roadway leading to the pier and lighthouse.

SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed. In
printing this ordinance, the brackets and bracketed material
need not be included.
SECTION 3. If any provision of this ordinance or the
application thereof to any person or circumstances is held
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or

applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without
the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the
provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval.
