BILL NO. 114
ORDINANCE NO. 93 91
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY
CODE 1983, RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Purpose. The Wailoa Bridge construction
project is scheduled for completion in late April 1993. During
the period of construction, the speed limit in the area of the
bridge was reduced from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.
When the project is finished, the speed limit should return to
35 miles per hour. The purpose of this bill is to amend
Schedule 5 of the Traffic Code, §24-257, by having Kamehameha
Avenue 35 miles per hour all the way from Ponahawai Street to
Route 19, in the vicinity of the Hilo Iron Works, and to amend
Schedule 3 of the Traffic Code, §24-255, by removing the present
25 mile per hour speed limit on Kamehameha Avenue between Pauahi
Street and Route 19, in the vicinity of Hilo Iron Works. This
will accomplish the goal of having a 35 mile per hour speed
limit in the area of Wailoa Bridge.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, section 24-257,
schedule 5, subsection (18), of the Hawaii County Code 1983,
relating to 35 mile per hour speed limits, is amended to read as
