HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1993-091 1992-1994COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII BILL NO. 114 ORDINANCE NO. 93 91 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983, RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Purpose. The Wailoa Bridge construction project is scheduled for completion in late April 1993. During the period of construction, the speed limit in the area of the bridge was reduced from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour. When the project is finished, the speed limit should return to 35 miles per hour. The purpose of this bill is to amend Schedule 5 of the Traffic Code, §24-257, by having Kamehameha Avenue 35 miles per hour all the way from Ponahawai Street to Route 19, in the vicinity of the Hilo Iron Works, and to amend Schedule 3 of the Traffic Code, §24-255, by removing the present 25 mile per hour speed limit on Kamehameha Avenue between Pauahi Street and Route 19, in the vicinity of Hilo Iron Works. This will accomplish the goal of having a 35 mile per hour speed limit in the area of Wailoa Bridge. SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, section 24-257, schedule 5, subsection (18), of the Hawaii County Code 1983, relating to 35 mile per hour speed limits, is amended to read as follows: (18) Kamehameha Avenue, from Ponahawai Street to [Pauahi Street) Route 19 in the vicinity of the old Hilo Iron Works. SECTION 4 . Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material, and underscoring need not be included. SECTION 5 . If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. SECTION 6 . This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval .
