Subject: Bill 49 Diversion of funds from 2% Land Preservation Fund
Aloha Council,
Five years from now, few Hawaii County citizens will remember all the choices your council had to
cut costs during the economic downturn of 2009. If this council takes funds from the 2% Land
Preservation Fund that was created by the wishes of the voting public majority, and any of those
lands marked for preservation are sold to resort or second-home developers, that's what the
public will remember.
If the council majority follows the lead of Mayor Kenai tomorrow and votes to suspend the Land
Fund, the message to the public will be a cynical one: local politicians have private agendas and
different priorities from the communities they represent.
Please vote "NO" on Bill 49.
Mahalo,
