Subject: Re: OPPOSED to Resolution 202-09 ; ~;;Ui!'
Aloha, Mr. Chair and members of the Hawaii County Council:
With appreciation of your hard work and the need to make adjustments in fine-tuning our
Council, I write OPPOSED to Resolution 202-09.
Resolution 202-09 seems to me a pretty radical change, rather than fine-tuning. Further,
it is one that disrespects about 50% of the island's voters because it would remove the
representatives of districts 1, 7, and 8 from any committee leadership positions.
Further, while there can be efficiencies in consolidating committees, there also can be a
loss of focus on key issues.
I respectfully suggest that if you personally want to do away with the Food and Energy
Sustainability Committee by merging it into Environmental Management, and to merge Human
Services and Economic Development into Finance, this perhaps should be made transparent
when you run for re-election in 2010.
For now, I request you vote AGAINST Resolution 202-09.
Mahalo for your consideration
