Re: Acceptance of Donation ~ '~~
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which
authorizes the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal
property, and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County
Code, which states that any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization
procedures of the department of finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its
approval, we request the Council's approval of the following donation:
Fifty (50) $20 Gift Cards (totaling $1,000) to the Department of Parks and
Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, Nutrition Program, to be used by the meals
on wheels program for all the volunteers that help deliver meals islandwide to
meals and wheels clients, by Mr. Jack Clayton, Terminal Operations Supervisor,
and Tesoro Employees, Tesoro Hawaii Corporation, 607 Kalaniana`ole Highway,
Hilo, Hawaii 96720-7450.
We ask that a letter of appreciation and acknowledgment of their donation be sent to the
donor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge a donation of 50 ($20.00) Gift Cards for the Department of Parks and
Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, Nutrition Program.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation by Mr. Jack Clayton, Terminal
Operations Supervisor of Tesoro Hawaii Corporation, of fifty $20.00 Gift Cards. It will be used by the meals
on wheels program for all the volunteers that help deliver meals islandwide to our meals and wheels clients.
Mr. Jack Clayton and the Tesoro employees are donating these cards to help with the rising cost of fuel by
providing gas cards for our volunteers who deliver meals.
Estimated value: $1000.00
