COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Hawaii County Charter, in part,
provides for any contract, lease or other obligation requiring the
payment of funds from the appropriation of a later fiscal year or of
more than one fiscal year shall be made or approved by resolution;
and
WHEREAS, the County currently leases 19,102 square feet of office
space in the Kona area at an annual rental cost of $414,816; and
WHEREAS, an over supply of available office space in Kona provides
an opportunity for the County to reduce its annual rental cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it concurs with the Administration's effort to
renegotiate favorable lease rates.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council approves the payment of
lease obligations in future fiscal years if the renegotiating of
leases are favorable and in the best interest of the County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit copies of this resolution to the Honorable Stephen K.
Yamashiro, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, and the Department of
Finance.
