WHEREAS, Section 46-32, Hawaii
Relating

authorizes the council of any county to appoint and employ personnel

to prescribe their powers, duties and compensation; and
WHEREAS, the Eighteenth Legislature, 1995, will deliberate various
issues
and
and
measures which will have significant impact on the County and the County
WHEREAS, after a careful review, the Council finds that it is prudent and necessary to
have someone with experience and knowledge to represent the interests of the County and the
County Council before the Eighteenth Legislature, 1995; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Harvey Tajiri, a former state representative, possesses such experience
and knowledge; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 94-69, Section 8.01 Office of the County Clerk, establishes a
position of "Special Assistant".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Mr. Harvey Tajiri is hereby appointed to the position of "Special Assistant", within
the Office of the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the duty of the"Special Assistant" is to represent the
ouncil on issues and matters before the Eighteenth
best interests of the County and County C
Legislature, 1995 and the State Administration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these issues and matters are limited to those items
enumerated in the memorandum from Council Chairman Elroy Osorio to all Council Members,
dated January 31, 1995 (Memorandum is an addendum to this resolution).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if other issues and matters arise, Mr. Tajiri shall seek
joint concurrence from the Mayor and Council Chairman prior to representing the County and
County Council on such items.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr. Tajiri's appointment shall be effective on
February 1, 1995 and shall terminate no later than June 30, 1995.
