RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, March 1995 is the ninth annual National Women's History
Month; and
WHEREAS, the theme of this year's National Women's History Month
is "Women's History Promises To Keep"; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women is
sponsoring a "Real Women" creative writing competition for students
island wide in grades 5 through 12; and
WHEREAS, the essay contest increases awareness of the many
different ways that women made history in Hawaii and fosters pride
in the outstanding accomplishments of women in Hawaii.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it recognizes the courage and countless contributions of
women throughout the United States and especially on the Island of
Hawaii during the celebration of March 1995 as Women's History Month.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
instructed to transmit copies of this resolution to Mrs.
Irene Naqao, Chairperson, Hawaii County Committee on the Status of
Women and Essay Coordinator, along with the Council's best wishes
for success and recognition deserving of their worthy contributions.
