RESOLUTION N0. 57 95
WHEREAS, Position No. 2426, Recreation Technician II, SR-11,
assigned to the Andrews Gym in South Hilo is presently vacant; and
WHEREAS, although Andrews Gym is one of the busiest Parks &
Recreation facility in South Hilo, an evaluation of staffing
revealed that only during the hours of 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (four hours)
would additional help be needed; and
WHEREAS, by deleting Position No. 2426, Recreation Technician
II, SR-11, and adding a Recreation Technician II 1/2T position, the
same objectives at Andrews Gym would be met; and
WHEREAS, the summer fun program has been expanded from six weeks
to eight weeks and grown from sixteen sites to twenty-seven sites;
and
WHEREAS, the summer fun nutrition program has also grown from
two sites to nine sites; and
WHEREAS, with the increase in size of the participants as well
as temporary hires, the volume of the paper work justifies the
addition of a clerical position to assist the one clerical position
aiding the Recreation Director; and
WHEREAS, by adding a Clerk-Typist 1/2T, SR-8 position, the
overwhelming paper work of the Recreation Director will be
alleviated; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County
Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create
positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council
and abolish positions with the consent of the council."; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the salaries and wages account
of the Recreation Division.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Position No. 2426, Recreation Technician II, SR-11, be
deleted and one (1) Recreation Technician II 1/2T, SR-11, and one
(1) Clerk-Typist 1/2T, SR-8, be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Parks and Recreation, Finance and
Civil Service.
