HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 116 Draft 01 1994-1996COUNTY OF HAWAII` STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION N0. 11,8 gg WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 19, of the Hawaii County Code provides that the County Council may, by resolution, approved by the majority of its members, dispose of real property; and WHEREAS, the 2 classroom buildings (formerly teachers' cottage) at the old Hakalau School is deteriorated due to weathering and age; and WHEREAS, the buildings present a safety hazard to the staff and students who occupy the site as an alternative education site, Hukilike School, under the responsibility of Hilo Intermediate School's administration; and WHEREAS, the maintenance cost is exorbitant in trying to maintain the structure for classrooms; and WHEREAS, the Department of Finance previously advertised the sale of the buildings, but were unable to attract bidders due to high cost of liability insurance required by the County to remove the buildings. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that: 1. In accordance with the provisions of Chapter 2, Article 19 of the Hawaii County Code, the Director of Finance be authorized to dispose of the classroom buildings located at the old Hakalau School, Hakalau, Hawaii, TMK: 2-9-02-005, by demolition. 2. The Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Department of Education and the Director of Finance. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this 2nd day of August 1995.
