RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Code was first codified in 1975; and
WHEREAS, in 1983, the Hawaii County Code was recodified; and
WHEREAS, over the yeazs, several provisions in the Hawaii County Code 1983 have become
obsolete or unnecessary due to changes in federal, state or county laws, rules and regulations;
and
WHEREAS, the County Council finds that the Hawaii County Code 1983 should be reviewed
and updated to assure that public policy formulation is clear, enforceable, and consistent.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that the Legislative Auditor's Office work with the Office of the Corporation Counsel
and the administrative agencies to review the Hawaii County Code 1983 for obsolete and
outdated provisions and to recommend a revision package to the County Council for its
consideration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this resolution to Mayor
Stephen K. Yamashiro, Corporation Counsel, and the Legislative Auditor.
