RESOLUTION No. 19B 85
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ABANDONMENT AND SALE OF AMAKIHI ROAD,
WAILER, SOUTH HILO, TMK: 2-3-22.
WHEREAS, Amakihi Road, located in South Hilo, in the County
and State of Hawaii, and designated by Tax Map Key Number 2-3-22
is an unimproved road which is not being used for any public
transportation purpose at the present time; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii is the fee owner of the
aforesaid Amakihi Road; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has no future plans to improve
Amakihi Road and use it for the purpose of public
transportation; and
WHEREAS, the subject property of Amakihi Road is of such an
unusual shape, and inconvenient location as to be economically
or physically unsuitable or undesirable for development or
utilization as a separate unit, and thereby meets the definition
of a "remnant", as stated in Hawaii County Code §2-110(a)(3); and
WHEREAS, the owners of the properties adjoining Amakihi Road
have expressed interest in purchasing the Amakihi Road property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII, that Amakihi Road, TMK: 2-3-22, is hereby abandoned
and declared to be a remnant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the chief engineer and the
finance director of the County of Hawaii are hereby directed to
take steps pursuant to Hawaii County Code $2-118 to sell the
aforesaid Amakihi Road property to the adjoining property owners
as a remnant.
