RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Department of Transportation had approved a grant
under the Highway Safety Program of $146,000 to fund the salaries of
two (2) Police Officers to combat the problem of Driving Under the
Influence of Intoxicating liquor violations; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 23-95 created two (2) Police Officer II
positions for as long as the Department of Transportation provided
funding; and
WHEREAS, the curtailment of grant funding from the Department of
Transportation necessitates the abolishment of Position No. 3851
Police Officer II; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County
Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create
positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council
and abolish positions with the consent of the council."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII:
1. That Position No. 3851, Police Officer II, PO-7, be
abolished.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Police, Finance and Civil Service.
