RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION TO COMMEMORATE THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SISTER CITY
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NAGO CITY AND THE HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL, COUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, on April 9, 1986 Nago City and the County of Hawaii fostered a Sister City relationship; and
WHEREAS, on June 13, 1986 Nago City and the County of Hawaii officially signed the Sister City
agreement; and
WHEREAS, such a Sister City program has benefitted the people of the affiliated cities through the
exchange of cultural exhibits, educational programs and other matters of common interest; and
WHEREAS, as part of this cultural exchange, Nago City donated three Haari boats to the County of
Hawaii, which are used in the annual Hui Okinawa Haazi Boat Festival held in Hilo; and
WHEREAS, on September 4, 1996 Meio University of Nago City and the University of Hawaii at Hilo
will formally sign an international exchange agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it
recognizes, congratulates and celebrates the international partnership between Meio University and the University
of Hawaii at Hilo.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Hawaii reaffirms its Sister City relationship with Nago
City and its commitment to each other.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Mayor of the City of
Nago, Meio University, the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Hui Okinawa.
