HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 029 Draft 02 1992-1994COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the film industry offers the Big Island's economy a new industry potential; and WHEREAS, the Big Island is blessed with diverse climatic and geologic conditions which offers the film industry a broad spectrum of opportunities ranging from still photography, TV commercials, documentaries, and mini-series to feature films; and WHEREAS, an added benefit resulting from a successful film industry is the exposure to the rest of the world of Hawaii's resources, which include but is not limited to its environment, its people, its culture and etc.; and WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii finds that the film industry, while still relatively small, has the potential of being a contributor to the Big Island's economy and a complement to the visitor industry in their quest to expose the attributes of the Big Island as a visitor destination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it acknowledges the film industry as a new and welcomed industry to the County of Hawaii. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit copies of this resolution to the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro, Mayor of the County of Hawaii; Ms. Diane Quitiquit, Director of Research and Development, County of Hawaii; Ms. Sharon Clark, Hawaii Film Office, Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism and Mr. Michael Bonahan, President, Big Island Film and Video Association.
