RESOLUTION N0. ~2 ~3
WHEREAS, Hawaii Electric Light Company is the only utility
company that provides electrical service to the Island of Hawaii;
and
WHEREAS, increased demands are being placed upon Hawaii
Electric Light Company to generate more power to accommodate the
growing development in the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to meet our energy needs, Hawaii
Electric Light Company is proposing an expansion of their
facilities at their Keahole site; and
WHEREAS, where expansion is essential to accommodate the
demand requirements, research as to the site location in the best
interest of the people and the environment should be conducted; and
WHEREAS, the proper planning to address cost, visual,
environmental, and noise conditions of the community should be
exercised.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, that Hawaii Electric Light Company in their effort to
facilitate the increased energy demands placed upon them, exercise
proper planning that will address the visual impact of the site
location, environmental and noise conditions, and the cost factors
to both Hawaii Electric Light Company and the consumers of the
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be
transmitted to the Honorable Governor John Waihee, the Honorable
Mayor Stephen Yamashiro, all of the Hawaii Island State
Legislators, and Mr. Warren Lee, President of Hawaii Electric
Light Company.
