RESOLUTION N0. 33 93
WHEREAS, the Kona Outdoor Circle has requested that an
eleven-mile section of the Old Plamalahoa Highway between Palani Road
and Honalo, be designated as a "Scenic Route"; and
WHEREAS, this "Scenic Route" includes old buildings and houses,
an art center, coffee farms, beautiful trees and excellent views of
the sea coast; and
WHEREAS, the Holualoa Business and Professional Association, the
Kona Outdoor Circle and the Hawaii Electric Light Company whose lines
run alongside of this highway, have expressed their support for said
designation; and
WHEREAS, the Council finds it desirable to recognize and preserve
various scenic routes of Old Hawaii.
NOW, 'PHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it designate this eleven-mile section of highway between
Palani Road and Honalo a "Scenic Route".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Works Department provide
and put in place the appropriate signs to acknowledge this
designation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Honorable Stephen Yamashiro, Mayor, County of
Hawaii, Mrs. Donna Kiyosaki, Chief Engineer, Department of Public
Works; and Ms. Nan Madson, President, Kona Outdoor Circle.
