AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2, section 24-267, schedule 15 (One way
streets), subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is amended
by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
Kapiolani Street. All vehiculaz traffic shall move in the Puna direction
from Waianuenue Avenue to Haili Street between the hours of 7:15 a.m.
and 8:00 a.m. on school davs.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 4, section 24276, schedule 24
(Crosswalks), subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
~ Kapiolani Street, one hundred ninety feet Hamakua of Haili Street.
SECTION 3. Chapter 24, article 10, division 6, section 24-287, schedule 35 (Passenger
loading zones), subsection (c) South Hilo, items (4)(A) and (4)(B), of the Hawaii County Code
1983 (1995 edition), are amended to read as follows:
(4) Kapiolani Street:
(A) [On the mauka side starting at a point one hundred thirty-five feet
Hamakua of Haili Street and extending in the Hamakua direction
for a distance of one hundred fifty-five feet, from 7:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. on school days.] Mauka side, from a point thirt,} feet
Puna of Waianuenue Avenue and extending, two hundred ninety
feet in the Puna direction from 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school davs.

(B) [On the mauka side beginning at a point two hundred ninety feet
Hamakua direction of Haili Street and extending one hundred
thirty-two feet in the Hamakua direction from 7:15 a.m. to
8:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.] Mauka
side, from a point three hundred twenty feet Puna of Waianuenue
Avenue and extending one hundred ninety feet in the Puna
direction from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.
SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is underscored. In
printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 5. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
