RESOLUTION N0. ~ 93
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(b) of the Hawaii County
Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Appoint necessary
staff for which appropriations have been made by the council..."; and
WHEREAS, there are three (3) full-time and two (2) 2/5 time
Water Safety Officer II positions providing lifeguard services at
Kahalu'u and White Sands County Beach Parks seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, due to the increase in population and water recreation
use by residents, the military and visitors, the State of Hawaii is
desireous of providing water safety services at Kealakekua Bay State
Historical Park, Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area, and Kona
Coast State Park; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii has signed a
Memorandum of Agreement for lifeguard services with the State
Department of Land and Natural Services, State Parks Division; and
WHEREAS, in this agreement, the State of Hawaii has agreed to
fund the following positions:
1 Water Safety Officer III, SR-19 22,720.00
2 Water Safety Officer II, SR-17 37,818.00
3 Water Safety Officer II 3/4T, SR-17 42,656.25
1 Water Safety Officer II 2/5T, SR-17 6,981.12
1 Account Clerk 1/2T, SR-11 8,300.00
118,475.37
and
WHEREAS, the contract period is from July 1, 1993 until June 30,
1994; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in 010-513-5513.21-011.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that the positions described above be created and that funds
are available in 010-513-5513.21-011.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Office of the Mayor and the Departments of Parks
and Recreation, Finance and Civil Service.
