RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for the quarantine of animals
coming into the Stare of Hawaii for the purpose of preventing and
eradicating contagious, infectious, and communicable diseases among
animals within the Stare; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii finds that the
facilities for r.he quarantine of pets are located on the island of
Oahu; and
WHEREAS, for those residents moving to the outer islands with
pets and animals, this quarantine period is a rime of sr_ress,
hardship, and languish as regular visits by our residents to their
quarantine pets and animals bear a high financial cost; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii believes that there
is a sufficient number on per_s and animals being brought into the
State of Hawaii by in*_ended residents of r_he County of Hawaii which
will justify the establishment of an animal quarantine station on the
island of Hawaii.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII thar_r.he Department of Agriculture is hereby requested to
consider r_he establishment of an animal quarantine station on the
island of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
send copies of this resolution r_o Mr. Yukio Kitagawa, Director, State
Departmenr_ of Agriculture; and r_o Mrs. C, J. Barnhill.
