RESOLUTION N0. 222 94
WHEREAS, Section 89-10(b) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes relating to
collective bazgaining requires that the employer "...submit within ten days of the
date on which the agreement is ratified by the employees concerned all cost items
contained therein to the appropriate legislative bodies..."; and
WHEREAS, the same section further provides that all agreed-upon cost
items are "...subject to appropriations by the appropriate legislative bodies..."; and
WHEREAS, after months of negotiations a settlement was reached between
the employers and the United Public Workers on behalf of Bargaining Unit Ol, and
the settlement was ratified by the BU01 membership on Apri126, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the cost items included in the settlement area 2% across-the-
board wage adjustment on July 1, 1994 and an increase in the employer's share of
Health Fund premiums from 60% to 60% plus $40.30 per month, effective
July 1, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the total cost to the County of Hawaii over the two years of the
new contract as shown in the exhibit attached to this resolution will be $414,386 for
BU01 included employees and $4,927 for BU01 excluded employees, for a total cost
of $419,313; and
WHEREAS, the budget for FY 1994-95 as presented to the County Council
includes an appropriation of $277,000 to cover any shortfalls in any accounts due to
the cost items of this settlement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TI' RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the cost items included in this settlement as shown on
the attached exhibits are approved.
