RESOLUTION N0. 229 ~
(DRAFT 2)
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any
contract, lease, or other obligation requiring payment of funds
from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a multi-year lease
contract to acquire a copy machine for the Office of the
Corporation Counsel, Family Support Division-Hilo Hranch;
WHEREAS, the department's existing copy machine was purchased
in 1987 and has been adjusted to its fullest level, requiring
frequent cleaning and servicing; and
WHEREAS, the downtime from the aging machine results in lost
hours and inconveniences; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel, Family Support
Division, anticipates an increase in their workload requiring
numerous court documents to be processed;
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii will be fully reimbursed for the
entire lease cost of .the copier;
WHEREAS, Bid Proposal No. 1511 indicates that the market is
right for a replacement of the copy machine; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of a copy machine will result in
increased productivity and efficiency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the County of
Hawaii:
1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a multi-year
lease for the acquisition of a copy machine to be utilized in the
Office of the Corporation Counsel, Family Support Division-Hilo
Branch;
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years
to cover the anticipated obligation of the County under the
1994

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this
resolution to the departments of Finance and Corporation Counsel.
