WHEREAS, the Waikoloa Community Association has provided outdoor
basketball courts, baseball/soccer fields, playground area, an
outdoor volleyball court, and an office area; and
WHEREAS, the "Friends of the Park" are in the process of
constructing a recreation room addition to the restroom building; and
WHEREAS, upon completion of the recreation room, both after
school and evening programs can be conducted; and
WHEREAS, with the new Waikoloa Elementary School opening in
September, a need for after school programs for 300 students is
anticipated; and
WHEREAS, by increasing the time element of Position No. 3732,
Recreation Technician III 1/2T, SR-13, currently assigned to the
Thelma Parker Gym to full time and transferring this position to the
Waikoloa Village Community Park, the planning and organizing of
programs and activities within the Waikoloa community would develop
into a well-rounded recreational program; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds within the Department of
Parks and Recreation to cover the cost of the additional time
element.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Position No. 3732, Recreation Technician III 1/2T,
SR-13, be changed to Recreation Technician IIi, SR-13.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available within the
Department of Parks and Recreation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Parks & Recreation, Finance and
Civil Service.
