RESOLUTION N0. Z75 9¢
RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF ENTERPRISE ZONES ON THE BIG
' ISLAND OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii encourages economic development
on the Big Island of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council passed Hill No. 167 enabling
the designation of enterprise zones in Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, Bill No. 167 was enacted into Ordinance 94-8 by Mayor
Stephen Yamashiro; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 94-8 will be conducive to economic
development efforts to generate employment; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council is empowered to make
enterprise zone designations; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII; that the following enterprise zones be established in
Hawaii County according to the delineations submitted with this
resolution:
(1) Kona Enterprise Zone
(2) Hamakua Enterprise Zone
(3) Hilo-Puna Enterprise Zone
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of
Hawaii provide qualified businesses in these enterprise zones
with a waiver of real property taxes on all new construction
for a period of three years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii transmit copies of this resolution to the Governor of
the State of Hawaii, to the Mayor of the County of Hawaii, and
to the Director of the Department of Business, Economic
Development and Tourism.
