RESOLUTION N0. 2"~6 ~
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii had previously signed
a Memorandum of Agreement for lifeguard services with the State
Department of Land and Natural Resources, State Parks Division; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 96-93 created the following positions under
the terms of that agreement:
1 Water Safety Officer III, SR-19
2 Water Safety Officer II, SR-17
3 Water Safety Officer II 3/4T, SR-17
1 Water Safety Officer II 2/ST, SR-17
1 Account Clerk 1/2T, SR-11
and;
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the County of Hawaii has signed another
Memorandum of Agreement for lifeguard services with the State
Department of Land and Natural Services, State Parks Division; and
WHEREAS, in this new agreement, the State of Hawaii has agreed
to increase the funding for the three (3) three-fourths (3/4) and
one (1) two-fifths (2/5) positions to full time and add another two
(2) full time i7ater Safety Officer II, SR-17 positions; and
WHEREAS, these Water Safety Officer II positions will be
assigned to service the Hapuna Beach State Park and Kona Coast State
Park; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County
Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Appoint necessary
staff for which appropriations have been made by the council..."; and
WHEREAS, the contract period is from July 1, 1994 until June 30,
1995; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in 010-513-5513.21-011.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that the three (3) three-fourths (3/4) and one (1) two-fifths
(2/5) positions be changed to full time and another two (2) full
time Water Safety Officer II, SR-17 positions be created and that
funds are available in 010-513-5513.21-011.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Office of the Mayor and the Departments of Parks
and Recreation, Finance and Civil Service.
